You had some weight and heft in the HD version's werehog stages. They also controlled much worse in the SD version. People were saying the Wii version was going to be better before the game had even released, largely because of how Sonic 2006 vs Sonic and the secret rings were received. Their complaints all sounded like they had made up their mind before even playing the game. Talking to them unlocks optional side missions after you beat the level. Those people still exist in the HD version, but you never have to talk to them. By contrast, in the HD version, you just walk straight to the level entrance and go in. Sure, it's not 3D, but it's still a fetch quest. And, despite the wii hubs not being 3D, they DID have fetch quests, that the HD versions didn't! Like, in Holoska, to get to the stage, you have to talk to the daughter first, who tells you about her mom being upset, who tells you that the dad did something wrong, so you talk to the dad, who tells you he needs this thing from another guy, so you talk to the guy, who gives you something to give to the dad, who then talks to the mom, who then unlocks the level for you. But they'd turn around and praise the Wii/PS2 version for "lack of 3D hubs, hence no fetch quests." But if you played the wii/ps2 versions, while it's true they don't have a 3D hub, they're instead replaced by a flat menu where all the characters that are normally on the 3D hubs are just items you can select. This only happens really once in the HD versions, at the beginning of the game, for story reasons. Like I remember a number of reviewers bashing the hubs for "pointless fetch quests needed to unlock new levels" specifically talking about how you had to run around talking to people constantly. I remember when reviewers would try and claim the PS2/Wii version was better, and attribute faults only present in the Wii/PS2 version to the Xbox 360/PS3 version. ![]()
